'Kat came into my school to teach her song, 'Words are powerful' to all the children in Years 1 to 6. They thoroughly enjoyed learning it! The added actions made it really easy to teach the song to the younger children and the part-singing and harmonies added an extra challenge for the older pupils. What was most important, however, was the impact of the lyrics. The younger children learned that it is really important to speak with kind words, not only to others but also to ourselves. The lyrics generated much discussion with the KS2 children, as we pondered which words are most powerful: our spoken words or the words we send in a text or share on social media? All the children said how much the song makes them think about kindness to each other, and how important it is to keep our minds healthy, as well as our bodies. Thanks, Kat! The children keep asking to sing your song again and again, and it's lovely to hear it being sung in the school corridors and around the playground too!'
Here are some comments from Year 2 children about my song 'Words are Powerful;'
" I love the beat, it makes me feel happy inside"
" The tempo is really good and it's a catchy song"
" the meaning of the words makes you think before you speak"
" It reminds us that words are like glue and we have to be careful and kind"
'I love the song Smile.' It's a beautiful song and I love the harmonies in the chorus.
